Punk Floral: Day #18

I decided that to make things even harder on myself, I should bring another pattern piece into my arsenal for the 3o for 30 Challenge. Hence the overly cheerful floral skirt you see today. This is actually from my more rigid banking days, when I would pair it with a collared shirt and blazer and help the customers. Help them count their money. Money that wasn’t mine. Yay.

Maybe to completely contrast the ladylike luster of the skirt, maybe to rebel against my conservative past, I turn to my leather stud belt again, and it brings the desired spirit of the remix. A bit of punk-style spice with a girly element. Bodyguards on duty today are my soft half-sleeve turtleneck used in a few outfits before and my faithful Guess Boots.

Chevrons & Leather: Day #15 & 16

Hurray! Half way through the Challenge!!! Overuse of exclamation points is totally legit. It’s getting a bit harder, odder and more challenging as we go into the last half. Right now I’ve got maybe 8 outfits lined up, and most will take some major stones to wear. Be strong, carry on.

Day #15 finds me in mostly new items. The snug bootcut jeans in a deep indigo wash from NYDJ have the most awesome leather chevron design on the back pockets. Feels both air force influenced and tribal. How many jeans can say that? I belted these high and tucked in a slinky sky-blue top under an olive-green military jacket from Faded Glory (thrifted). Faithfully joined by my Payless boots.

Day #16 and I’m remixing that borrowed black dress again. It has been a real lifesaver. Remixed topped off with my ever-present navy cardigan, my edgy leather belt with stud accents and the classic Guess suede ankle boots.

And my dear inspiration for this whole challenge, Kendi, now has a collaborative lookbook out with Fossil! She’s a doll, take a glance at her awesome outfits.

30 for 30 Challenge: Final Days

It is finally over! This weekend I powered through the last 3 outfits I needed to complete the challenge. One was a day-to-night where I was lazy enough to use the same top, but I really REALLY didn’t have time to do laundry or be creative. I was way too busy catching up on Dexter, and wondering if compulsive serial killers with “dark passengers” have a defined fashion sense. I feel like they must, but what do you suppose are their summer go-to pieces? Surely it is the man-cardigan.

Day #28

Day #29

Day #30

I was making a weird face in Day #29 so I placed a heart there instead. No reason to look disgruntled, plenty of reasons to love.

It’s been a lovely adventure and I’ve learned many things about myself and my closet. Full montage to follow tomorrow, and until then a little weirdness for your ears:
